In support of our work with industrial clients, we have developed computer-analysis tools and procedures. We developed the computer program CORRIDOR which is distributed by the Electric Power Research Institute to its power-company members to predict the effects of power-line coupling to pipeline and railroad systems within common corridors. Analysis we perform for industrial clients uses a proprietary computer program related to CORRIDOR. The Corr Comp program accounts for electrostatic, magnetic, and earth-current coupling between power, railroad, and pipeline systems.
We also have been instrumental in the development of susceptibility testing procedures for railroad signaling equipment, the development of laboratory track simulators for such testing, and the conduct of controlled field testing to support the laboratory techniques. The research that we have performed on common-corridor interactions has been largely sponsored by industrial associations, such as the Association of American Railroads, the Electric Power Research Institute, the American Gas Association, and the Gas Research Institute. Corr Comp contributed chapters to the Power System and Railroad Electromagnetic Compatibility Handbook published by the Electric Power Research Institute in2004.
